Before we began our World Wide Week the children were challenged to design a LOGO which would highlight the Global dimensions of Woodford's curriculum and how we show respect for the'earth and all its people'.
We ended our World Wide Week with a flight across the continents from North America to Africa and Asia. From Mexico to The Gambia, China and Japan. Look at the wonderful things we saw on our journey. Well done everyone!
Two teachers from the Heles' school visited today to teach us how to do origami and Tai Chi. Origarmi is the art of paper folding. We made a chinese latern that you inflated by blowing into it. It was really tricky folding the paper but it was an enjoyable activity. Both the teachers originally come from Beijing in China and during the morning they taught us how to count to 10 and say hello, goodbye and thank you. After break we learned how to do Tai Chi. It was really difficult and it took a lot of concentration to remember the moves but it was lots of fun.
Here is a photo of our completed display of all the Christmas tree decorations that we recieved from across Europe in the lead up to (and following) Christmas. As you can see the completed display is beautiful. We have really enjoyed taking part and hope that we can do so again next year. The children enjoyed the excitement of opening the parcels and finding wonderful decorations as well as exploring where they had come from. A great project!
The children in class 2 have been excitedly receiving deocrations from around Europe as part of a Europe Direct project. The idea has been to exchange tree decorations and Christmas traditions with children in other areas of the UK and Europe. The results can be seen in the beautiful display in the school's entrance.
We have exchanged decorations with schools in Scotland, Latvia, Italy, Poland, Spain, Finland, France, England, Wales, Cornwall, Lithuania, Sweden, Belgium, Greece, Czech Republic and Romania!
Below is a presentation that we have recieved which share traditions and customs of Christmas in Scotland. Happy Christmas to you All!
